After the first image of Karl Urban as the new Judge Dredd (right) was released last month, it's been confirmed by producer Andrew Macdonald that he is preparing some exclusive material to be shown at Mark Millar's upcoming comic con, Kapow!
In an official press release Andrew said, "It is fantastic to be involved with Kapow! and I'm really looking forward to talking to all the fans about our upcoming Dredd movie."
For those who are unfamiliar, Judge Dredd is based on the character created by John Wagner for 2000AD, the epitome of law enforcement in a distant future where humans are compacted into crime-ridden walled cities in the desert wasteland that remains of Earth. Dredd is the faceless judge, jury and executioner when it comes to keeping the streets of Mega-City One clean.
The shortened Dredd, which is set for a 2012 release, is a reportedly gritty reboot of the character for the silver screen after Sylvester Stallone's 1995 attempt at playing The Law personified received a somewhat negative response. Stars currently attached (besides Karl Urban) include Olivia Thirlby (Juno) as Judge Anderson and Jason Cope (District 9) whose role is yet to be confirmed.
