Torchwood: Die Harder?

12th January 2011

It seems as if the momentum of the all-star Torchwood series is gathering apace... more names, more story and a Bruce Willis connection?

Eve Myles as Gwen Cooper in TorchwoodThe BBC have released more information about the new Torchwood mini-series which looks set to be broadcast in July later this year. Alongside the returning Eve Myles and John Barrowman, we already covered the casting of  Mekhi Phifer in the key role of CIA agent  'Rex Matheson' but in the last few days and weeks, the momentum has continued. Bill Pullman (Independence Day) is set to play Oswald danes, a convicted child-killer and the 'big bad' of the next run and other announced cast members appearing now include Alexa Havins and Dichen Lachman (Dollhouse).

Previously referred to as Torchwood: The New World, the mini-series will now go under the moniker of 'Miracle Day' with the plot surrounding the entire world's population suddenly becoming immortal. No-one dies - those who are ill remain ill, but death claims no-one...and when Oswald Danes becomes a media celebrity after surviving his own execution, both Torchwood (what's left of it) and the CIA are drawn into the investigation.

Reflecting its international cast, the action series will shoot in both the UK and US and several sites have already reported that the external look of Torchwood's new base of operations will actually be shot in the compound of one Mr Bruce Willis.
