ABC spells out its renewal line-up for 2016/17…

ABC announces renewal slate for shows

ABC is the first US network to give an indication of which shows will be returning to its schedule for 2016/2017. But there’s no news yet on ‘Agent Carter’…

As we head slowly into spring, the US tv networks are casting and producing their pilots to add new shows to their slate, but also taking note of the successes they already have and in some cases announcing what existing shows will be back on air for the 2016-2017 season.

ABC is one of the first networks to formally greenlight a raft of renewals and today confirmed that they are putting their support behind: America’s Funniest Home Videos, The Bachelor, black-ish, Dancing with the Stars, Fresh Off the Boat,The Goldbergs, Grey’s Anatomy, How to Get Away with Murder, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., The Middle, Modern Family, Once Upon a Time, Scandal,  Shark Tank and newcomer Quantico.

NEWIMPACT2-CARTER2Both Quantico (about a conspiracy at the FBI’s training facility which flashes backwards and forwards between training and a modern day homeland attack in New York) and Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.  are both returning to US screens in the next week after a mid-season hiatus.

At this point there is no word on several other prominent ABC shows including Castle (which could very much go either way after a disappointing season) and Agent Carter (the Marvel Universe show starring Hayley Atwell).

Agent Carter finished its second season last week, shifting the action to LA.  It has proven to be a fan favourite but has had to battle in the ratings, faring better in the DVR market than in ‘live’ numbers.
