Any die hard action movie fan could easily spend a full twenty four hours asking Vic Armstrong questions about the films and the people he's worked with, about the stories he's heard and about the films he wants to make, about the time he rode in The Grand National, or how his mother coaxed a fox out of hiding for a shot to be used in his latest production, Black Beauty. I was lucky enough to conduct this extensive interview for Impact, and have been wondering ever since why I didn't ask this or that. No single feature can hope to capture the full breadth of Vic's experience, but hopefully this three part article has given some indication of the debt movie Goers owe to the truly unsung hero of high concept.
Bey Logan: Given the risks involved, are you surprised so many people want to become stuntmen?
Vic Armstrong: No, not at all. I'm surprised that there aren't more really, because it's much more publicised now. I got into it through (actor) Richard Todd, who used to have race horses with us. It's a glamorous looking business. It looks good, and it IS good. You see Hooper and The Fall Guy and all that crap, and it looks great.
Bey Logan: We were talking about Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger, both of whom you've worked with and both of whom have athletic backgrounds. Harrison Ford, on the other hand, was an ACTOR brought in to make action films. How was he to work with?
