Tom Cruise made a surprise apperance at the SDCC, joining co-star Emily Blunt and Bill paxton to help promote his next film. That WAS the film known as All You Need is Kill... however the film has now undergone a ttile change and will now be known as The Edge of Tomorrow. We have to admit that the newer title seems a bit generic to us, but the idea of a soldier in a future war killed in the midst of battle but caught in a time-loop where he steadily improves his potential for survival and victory has always sounded like a great concept - Starship Troopers meets Groundhog Day if you will... Also the photos released of Cruise in the mecha-suits the soldiers are wearing looks believably cumbersome and hard to move in, something that plain CGI might not convey. Blunt and Cruise apparently learned Krav Maga to cope with the physical efforts needed.
The Edge of Tomorrow is being directed by Bill Liman from the Japanese novel by Hiroshi Kazurazaka (who was also in attendance) and was been shooting in the UK over the past few months where it even closed down Trafalgar Square for a day.
It will hit cinemas June 6th 2014. Repeatedly...
