Two major pieces of Vin Diesel-related news came over the weekend. Firstly there was confirmation of the long-rumoured casting news and the galaxy's worst-kept secret that Diesel would provide the voice of the CGI-animated talking tree warrior 'Groot' in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy. Diesel has long been famous for that gravel-laced voice, first heard in the much-acclaimed Iron Giant. To be fair to Vin, the role of Groot won't actually involve many words as the character doesn't have the most extensive vocabulary.
The second piece of news relates to the Fast & Furious 7 movie, the shooting of which was put on hiatus after the tragic death of star Paul Walker. Diesel was ahead of the studio, Universal, in announcing the new plans for the latest film in the franchise. Instead of hitting screens next July, the new film will now bow in April 2015 with walker's character, Brian O'Conner, still promiment within the film - depsite filming around only half of his character's intended story-arc.
The facebook update also contained an image of Diesel and Walker's last completed scene
The last scene we filmed together…
There was a unique sense of completion, of pride we shared… in the film we were now completing… the magic captured… and, in just how far we’ve come…
