The Bollywood action film - starring Aamir Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Uday Chopra, and Katrina Kaif - was lensed in Chicago and deals with a circus star and his colleagues who set out for revenge against a crooked Chicago banker is linked to his death. The movie, one of the most expensive Bollywood movies ever made, runs to three hours and is written and directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya ( with Aditya Chopra as a producer).
It's a competetive time of the year with significant releases throughout the festive holidays. However the box-office numbers for the film appear to have paid of the investment and potential of the project. According to indutry site deadline, in India alone it broke all the country's box-office records, taking $17.64 million.
But rolling out on a same-day release in many territories, always a gamble if you want solid word-of-mouth to work for you, the film has also been impressive and setting other records for its demographic such as $3.43 million in North America, $2.8 million in the United Arab Emirates and $1.45 worth of box-office in the UK.
