Iron Man director John Favreau has confirmed that the third Iron Man outing will act as a sequel to the Captain America and Avengers movies.
Speaking with MTV, Favreau said, "In theory, Iron Man 3 is going to be a sequel or continuation of Thor, Hulk, Captain America and Avengers. This whole world… I have no idea what it is. I don't think they [the execs at Universal and Marvel] do either, from conversations I've had with those guys."
This may have been fairly obvious but it's exciting to see that continuity will remain strong within Marvel Studios' releases.
In addition, current rumours are suggesting the villain of the film will be The Mandarin. Originally of Chinese origin, The Mandarin uses an intelligent scientific mind, expert skill in martial arts and ten power rings discovered from a crashed alien spacecraft in his plot to overthrow the world. Those who have read earlier comic books or seen the Iron Man animated series will be familiar with The Mandarin as one of Tony Stark's main adversaries.
