At the end of each Bond movie, the official line has been 'James Bond will return...' but recently that seemed like a hollow promise. With MGM in severe financial difficulty (it filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy to try to lose some of its £2.5 billion debt) there was the chance that Bond might NOT return for a long, long while. However Deadline was the first to report that MGM are now officially moving ahead on the as otherwise un-named "BOND 23" by the end of this year for a scheduled release on November 9th 2012 (to tie-in with the 50th anniversary of the first Bond movie in the franchise, Dr.No).
Daniel Craig WILL return as James Bond and Sam Mendes will be directing the film (with a proposed screenplay from Neal Purvis, Robert Wade and John Logan). There are no details on the plot or if it will pick up soon after the events of the last movie, A Quantum of Solace. Craig will first be seen in the upcoming Cowboys and Aliens with Harrison Ford and Olivia Wilde.
