ABC DOES want Conviction, Notorious, Time After Time…

Time After Time

There’s a lot of cancellations being announced this week, but there’s also news of NEW shows we’ll be seeing from US networks later in the year. With what  titles is ABC replacing its axed shows..?

After a tsumani of industry cancellations earlier in the week, ABC has confirmed the shows you WILL be seeing when the new season rolls around. They’ve also offered some teaser glimpses of what to expect from them.

They include:

Conviction… as mentioned yesterday, Hayley Atwell leaves Marvel’s Agent Carter  behind to head up a new contemporary series about Hayes Morrison a brilliant lawyer and the daughter of a former US President who is caught with drugs but subsequently blackmailed by her ‘nemesis’  District Attorney Wayne Wallis (CSI: NY‘s Eddie Cahill) into helping head-up a new unit that looks into wrongful convictions… The series will also star  Shawn Ashmore (The Following), Merrin Dungey (Alias), Emily Kinney (The Walking Dead), Manny Montana (Graceland) and Daniel DiTomasso (Witches of East End).

Time After Time… is based on the original novel by Karl Alexander, which in turn inspired the 1979 Nicholas Meyer-directed classic film starring Malcolm McDowell and David Warner. In the story H G Wells  shows a very real Time Machine (that inspired his classic novel) to surgeon Leslie John Stephenson, unaware that his friend is really Jack the Ripper. When ‘Jack’ uses it to flee into the future (the 1970s), Wells follows him, determined to stop him or return him to his correct era.  In the new series, from Kevin Williamson, Freddie Stroma (Harry Potter, unREAL) takes the McDowell/Wells role with Revenge‘s Josh Bowman as the fugitive murderer.

Notorious… is a drama based loosely on the true-life stories of famed criminal defense attorney Mark Geragos and cable news producer Wendy Walker (who will both be serving as executive producers) The series looks at the ways that criminal law and the media feed of and help or hinder each other in the modern climate. The series stars Piper Perabo (Covert Affairs) as Julia George and Daniel Sunjata (Grey’s Anatomy, Graceland)  as Jake Gregorian.Josh Berman (responsible for Blacklist, Bones and CSI) and Allie Hagan (Suri’s Burn Book) will write and exec produce.
