Assassin’s Creed executes its teaser trailer…

The Assassin’s Creed adaptation promises a mix of futuristic technology, period-drama and game-play action… but did anyone expect the Spanish Inquisition?


Assassin's Creed posterAssassin’s Creed has proven to be one of the most popular computer multi-platform action games of the last ten years – so it was inevitable it would be brought to the cinema screen at some point. It seems an age ago that was announced in the main role and the first images appeared – but the film itself will be in the multiplexes by the end of the year – and now we have our first proper look at the premise and its execution…

While many a high-budget action-movie comes apart when it relies too much visual-effects (2016 has already claimed such casulaties), Assassin’s Creed does seem to benefit from a strong cast, an interesting premise and absolute brand recogntion The film is directed by Justin Kurzel (who worked with Fassbender on Macbeth) also stars winner Marion Cotillard.

The official synopsis for the movie: Through a revolutionary technology that unlocks his genetic memories, Callum Lynch (Michael Fassbender) experiences the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain. Callum discovers he is descended from a mysterious secret society, the ‘Assassins’ and amasses incredible knowledge and skills to take on the oppressive and powerful Templar organisation in the present day.

The film opens across the globe on 21st December 2016.
