Acclaimed author Christopher Golden compiles a surprisingly diverse collection of stories from a similarly

diverse collection of writers. Golden’s foreword ponders the popularity of the ‘walking putrid‘ and nineteen very good and very different stories grace the volume.  Zombies are explored from the time of Christ through present day and beyond.

This is EXACTLY what an anthology should be - a collection of stories that views a subject from every angle. The reader experiences fear, heartbreak, and all the emotions in between in this book. Don’t avoid it because you think you have grown tired of zombies; this collection takes the undead to new places.  The stories are ultimately from all points of view.

An introduction to a few of my personal favourites is probably in order. The first story, Lazarus by John Connolly tells the story of the biblical character in an entirely different light. In the Dust by Tim Lebbon-three people are trapped inside a small town by authorities while they help rid the area of zombies. Second Wind by Mike Carey introduces us to a “live” zombie just trying to find a quiet place to retire.

However, I’d like to insert a note of caution to readers: make no mistake… this is actually the same book as The New Dead; it’s just a title change.
