The Hood, The Pic and the DC

19th March 2012

With Green Arrow proving to be the next televisual superhero to get the green-light, the first image from the show has been released ahead of its autumn/fall debut...

Stephen Amell will be starring as the DC hero who has more than a passing resemblance to a modern day Robin Hood. The premise of the new series, entitled 'Arrow', sees former billionaire playboy Oliver Queen reappear after being presumed dead. In fact, he's been stuck on a desert island for five years and has returned to civilisation with a secret agenda and a secret war on crime using his new hooded persona.

David Nutter who helped launch the Smallville franchise will be directing the 'Arrow' pilot and has said that the show will have a darker edge than its predecessor but is aiming to make the character relatable to its intended core audience on the CW.  The character has been somewhat re-invented from both the comcis persona and the previous Smallville incarnations.

The pilot has been written by Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim and Andrew Kreisberg with the new costume (below) designed by frequent Tim Burton collaborator Colleen Atwood.
