Super Bowl 2016: Matt Damon is Bourne again

The fifth film in the franchise – eponymously entitled – takes us back to basics with and director back for a third team-up…

Amazingly, it’s been nearly a decade since we left Jason Bourne, his memory restored and his mission to make his duplicitous controllers pay apparently completed at the end of 2007’s The Bourne Ultimatum. Despite Jeremy Renner quite effectively inheriting a ‘Bourne Legacy‘ in 2012, it’s taken until now for Matt Damon to return to the original titular role. Paul Greengrass, the director of The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum, is also back – with Damon having said he wasn’t interested in coming back unless the director did as well.

The trailer launched during Super Bowl 50 gives us an idea of what to expect – with some major stunt set-pieces. This time around, Bourne is told by Treadstone’s original logistics technician Nicky Parsons (Julia Stiles) that ‘just because he now remembers everything, it doesn’t mean he knows everything…‘ and he’s plunged back into a world full of shadow agendas played out against the latest technological threats. There are some new faces along for the ride, including , Vincent Cassel and .

The official website for the movie – www.jasonbournemovie.com – will also be kept up to date in the run up to its July release date.
