Resident Evil gets Re-Animated…

Resident Evil: The Final Chapter poster

Best-selling games, cult films… and now a fully-animated CGI outing. It seems there’s plenty of life left in , Capcom’s classic horror franchise…

It’s been a successful franchise and a successful live-action franchise and now Resident Evil may be having its most visibly successful time yet. Milla Jovovich will be back on screen for what is being touted as ‘The Last Chapter‘ of the franchise in late December and early January, as the film rolls out internationally (once again being directed by her husband Paul W. S. Anderson). The seventh chapter of the actual game series will also be hitting consoles with a simultaneous release for multi-platforms such as PS4, X-Box and PCs

But thereafter it will be entering yet another arena for the first time: a full feature-length CGI-animated movie called Resident Evil: Vendetta is on the cards with plans to release that production as early as Spring 2017, debuting  in Japanese cinemas.

Industry site Deadline first noted that a clip and images from the project were shown at last week’s Tokyo Game Show, where it was revealed that the project is being directed Takanori Tsujimoto (Hard Revenge Milly, Ultraman X) with Takashi Shimizu (The Grudge) acting as Executive Producer and with a script from  Makoto Fukami (Psycho-Pass). It will feature characters such Leon S. Kennedy ( who appeared in Resident Evil 4), Chris Redfield ( who appeared in Resident Evil 5) and one of the original stars Rebecca Chambers. However specific of the monstrosities and dangers they will be facing were thinner on the ground.

One thing we do know is the project has arranged a tie-in with famous Italian motorcycle manufacturer Ducati.  Kennedy will be seen riding the Ducati’s newest series bike, the XDiave, in the animated film’s climactic scenes…
