Willis is Expendable as Ford joins Sly's cast

Written by (Editor) on 6th August 2013

With mere weeks to go before The Expendables 3 starts filming, Stallone has started tweeting some provocative news -  including a major exit...

Sylvester Stallone has just tweeted two messages, both of which could prove quite revealing about his plans and attitude to the next Expendables outing, due to start filming soon. The first is quite succinct but casts a compeltely new hue on the film's line-up (and possibly, its entire story).

>>> WILLIS OUT... HARRISON FORD IN  !!!!  GREAT NEWS !!!!!  Been waiting years for this!!!!

Yes, the man who Han Solo and Indiana Jones and is still going strong in Hollywood's A-List will be joining Sylvester, Arnie, Jackie Chan, Jason Statham and co. for the third chapter of a franchise that celebrates the veterans of the action genre with a gun in hand, a bazooka over its shoulder and a tongue firmly in cheek. That in itself is a major piece of casting news which could make headlines and certainly increases the potential gravitas of the piece. But the other part of that tweet, concerning Willis suddenly NOT taking part in the film is made all the more interesting by the OTHER tweet that Stallone then posted...

>>> GREEDY AND LAZY ...... A SURE FORMULA FOR CAREER FAILURE

Now, despite the fact the second tweet was uploaded within a minute of the first, this does not mean that we should automatically infer there is a direct connection between Willis leaving and to whomever Stallone might be referring. However, several outlets (including Impact) recently met with Willis during his promotion of RED 2 and all have commented that he seemed relatively distracted or disinterested in proceedings. It's a real shame that, for whatever reason,  Bruce WON'T be in the film as it actually provides an excellent template for his raft of recent  high-concept formula-friendly, OTT action efforts.

But, on the flipside, the remaining and evolving line-up should prove more than enough... and we still love Bruce's SKY advert.
