In a move that will probably be seen as 'inspired' by the powers-that-be and perceived as the pinnacle of ill-advised desperation by the masses, there are apparently plans to create a sequel series to the classic 1980s' series Remington Steele. The show launched the career of its titular star Pierce Brosnan (though, ironically, his contract with the show initially prevented him from taking on the 007 mantle for many years). The series told the story of Laura Holt (Stephanie Zimbalist) who runs the successful Remington Steele Detective Agency. She's created the fictional name of the founder so as to side-step the clients who might not hire her because she's a woman. However things get complicated, comedic and dramatic when a thief and conman appears and assumes the role of the founder. Holt finds her whole operation compromised unless she gives him cover. The adventure and will-they-won't-they romantic element made the show a major success for five years on the NBC and inspired the likes of another classic series, Moonlighting.
Now there are plans to do a sequel series, with the same name, that follows the daughter of Holt and Steele who - quite amazingly - finds herself in a similar predicament! There's no news of casting as yet and this is the kind of project that could well vanish before it ever makes it to the screen but rumours sugegst it will lean more towards a comedy format that a 'dramedy'. In recent years there have been several revamps of classic formats (Hawaii Five-0 etc), but many more that failed the 'nostalgebra' equation and also failed to garner sufficent interest before or after broadcast because they were mishandled or the originals were TOO iconic...
We aren't holding our breath for this...
