It looks as if Amazon Studios were impressed with the reaction to their online pilots for 'Bosch' and 'The After' and will now go ahead to full series...

Bosch goes to seriesFuther to releasing a lot of their potential pilots to the internet to get a sense of which might prove the most popular, industry-site Variety is now claiming that Amazon Studios will take four of those ten pilots forward to a series order. Though there has been no 'official' announcement made as yet the site says the decision HAS been made with possible other series to be confirmed later.

Two of those immediately successful projects are comedies, but the dramas 'Bosch' and 'The After' (both recently reviewed by Impact) will be of particular interest to readers of this site. These are the first dramas that Amazon Studios have produced and both got largely positive reactions from fans and critics alike when made free-to-view in February. The first is the long-awaited adaptation of the Michael Connelly books featuring Homicide Detective Harry Bosch (here played by Titus Welliver) as he battles an internal investigation while investigating the murder of a young boy whose remains have been found on a hillside above Los Angeles. The latter is the 'just after the apocalypse' series from  Chris Carter, creator of The X-Files, following a group of people who find themselves not only in a suddenly-changed world but with a mysterious connection to each other.

Both shows are the latest examples of shows stepping away from the traditional network route with the plan of making them available online to subscribers, a la Netflix / LoveFilm.

If the news is officially confirmed, expect to see more of both Bosch and The After before the end of the year...
