Win, Lois or Draw

With the announcement of who would play Superman, the next obvious question to be answered was, who will be Lois Lane? Now we know...

27 March 2011

That question was answered by director Zack Snyder during an interview with the Los Angeles Times to publicise his latest release, Sucker Punch.

Amy Adams, a three-time Academy-Award nominee an most recently seen in The Fighter has been linked with other roles including a biopic of Janis Joplin and a reporter opposite Tom Cruise in the upcoming Rock of Ages, but it now seems her priority will be the role previously and very famously played by the likes of Noel Neill, Margot Kidder, Teri Hatcher, Kate Bosworth and Smallville's Erica Durance.

“We did a lot of auditioning but we had this meeting with Amy Adams and after that I just felt she was perfect for it.” Snyder told the paper and confirmed that the character would be both a contemporary re-imagining and a woman who must exist in a world where there’s a superhero flying around. "It goes back to what I’ve said about Superman and making him really understandable for today. What’s important to us is making him relevant and real and making him empathetic to today’s audience so that we understand the decisions he makes. That applies to Lois as well.”

Snyder’s Sucker Punch has not performed as well as expected in its opening US weekend, but Snyder is still seen as a safe pair of hands to help revive the franchise after it stumbled in the wake of a misjudged relaunch by the usually reliable director, Bryan Singer.
