Marvel Plans Rise, Downey Jnr Falls...

Written by (Editor) on 16th August 2012

Mavel Studios are firming up their release dates for 'Phase 2' of their cinematic onslaught, but Robert Downey Jnr puts his foot in it...

It's a case of good news / bad news for Marvel Studios week. In the positive column we have the fact that we now have confirmed dates for almost all the studio's forthcoming superhero outings.  The slate now stands as follows:  Iron Man 3: May 3rd 2013, Thor 2: The Dark World: 8th November 2013,  Captain America: The Winter Soldier: 4th April 2014,  Guardians of the Galaxy: August 1 2014 and Avengers 2 finally confirmed for May 1st 2015. Ant-Man remains a wild-card which may yet be slotted into somewhere in 2014 and the proposed ABC series based in the Marvel universe is also expected to debut in 2015 if all goes well.

There's also good, if somewhat limited news that Marvel's plan to release a mobile-platform game also seem to be moving apace with the promo image opposite issued to whet the appetite. Though the Hulk imagery clearly reflects that of the Avengers film, it isn't known if the game will be considered canon to the film franchise. There will be more news soon...

The bad news is that shooting on the Iron Man sequel has had to be halted for a short while after star Robert Downey Jnr injured his foot during an apaprent stunt-sequence being filmed in Wilmington, North Carolina. A press statement revealed few details but confirmed there would be a '...short delay in production while he recuperates...'
