Stuntman John Bernecker has been critically injured on the set of ‘The Walking Dead‘ after a stunt went wrong, resulting in massive head injuries….
Bernecker suffered serious injury after he fell thirty feet from a balcony during a scene being rehearsed on the Atlanta base of the series. The fight scene and ‘routine’ fall were being set up but it appears Bernecker lost his footing and fell to the concrete far below. It is believed that he is now on life-support at Atlanta Medical Center but is not expected to survive. He is being kept on a ventilator while his family make arrangements.
Shooting on the AMC show has been suspended while the incident is being investigated and there is no news on when production on Season Eight will recommence. AMC‘s initial statement was released in the hours after the accident and read:
“We are saddened to report that John Bernecker, a talented stuntman for The Walking Dead and numerous other television shows and films, suffered serious injuries from a tragic accident on set. He was immediately transported to an Atlanta hospital, and we have temporarily shut down production. We are keeping John and his family in our thoughts and prayers.”
The stuntman’s recent work included the likes of Get Out, The Fate of the Furious, Goosebumps, Get Hard, 22 Jump Street, Looper, This Is the End and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2.
Everyone at Impact sends condolences to his family.
