Thank your Lucky Stars: Masterful Sammo Hung is Back…

He’s a veteran of the industry and one of its most beloved icons… but still has further plans, including his own film company…

Affectionately known (and quite rightfully so) as the “Biggest of the Big Brothers‘ in Chinese and English, the Legend that is Sammo Hung has fought and worked with everyone from Bruce Lee, , , Jet Li, , Cynthia Rothrock, Richard Norton , , Yuen Biao, Cynthia Khan, Angela Mao and many more.

He may have just turned 65 but there’s no sign of him slowing down… especially with him announcing his new company and plan of productions on the first day of the Hong Kong Filmart. Hung’s new company will see him working with an old friend and fellow veteran of the business( both in front and behind the camera) Dennis Chan (Master Xian from Kickboxer). Sammo Hung Films, which will be based out of Shanghai, will be looking to find and foster new talent both in front and behind the camera, be it actors and actresses, action choreographers, scriptwriters or/and directors.

Lucky StarsThe company has announced a very exciting slate of projects in various genres including action, sci-fi, comedy and musicals. These projects include I-Ching Warriors, The Detrimental Protectors, Back to School, Silk Road, To Catch a Killer, Operation: Ground Zero and a perfect way to launch the new company, The Return of Lucky Stars… an action comedy which would not only see the return of many of the original Lucky Stars themselves (the original team included Sammo, Richard Ng, John Sham, Eric Tsang) but introduce the next generation of Lucky Stars for further adventures.

For multiple generations in Hong Kong , South East Asia and across the world, the Lucky Stars series served as a great introduction to the world of ‘Hong Kong Action Cinema’, combining mad-cap physical and verbal humour, along with big name cameos and plenty of high impact fight action and stunt work.
