Suicide Squad got a very mixed reaction on its debut this summer – some loved it, some loathed it. But it seems the DC/Warner slate of movies will be expanding… with Harley Quinn possibly getting a solo outing…
Despite the huge anticipation and heightened expectation for the release of Suicide Squad earlier this year it’s safe to say it failed to impress everyone, but many feel that the one big plus side to the movie was Margot Robbie’s portrayal of Harley Quinn, and it looks like we will be seeing even more of it.
It’s becoming more and more evident that Margot Robbie can really do no wrong in the business. From impressing as Leo DiCaprio’s love interest Naomi in The Wolf of Wall Street to another great performance alongside Will Smith in Focus, it really has been a meteoric rise as Robbie has become one of the world’s sought-after actresses.
However, her ability to stand out and receive widespread critical acclaim for her role as Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad amidst the hammering the film received in some parts of the media has to be her most impressive feat to date. So if you take the best part of a bad film and make it into its own movie its surely destined to succeed, right? Well……………
Robbie had gone public in stating her desire for the spin off and that she was trying to make it happen, and it looks like not only has she succeeded but she has also landed herself an executive producer role on the film, making this likely to be her biggest producer role to date.
The Australian actress has signed a ‘first look deal’ with Warner Bros., but the company are keeping the information tight to their chest about the film with no further information about a possible storyline or premise to the movie being announced.
However, the news of Margot’s inclusion is likely to be enough to excite fans for now, but we might have to wait a while before we see the DC villain in action again.
