The AFM (American Film Market) is always a hotbed of deals and concepts... and there's plenty of projects to catch the attention. One of those of particualr interest to Impact readers will be the news that the live-action treatment of Kite, the Japanese anime by Yasuomi Umetsu, has been successfully sold to distributors across the world.
The story tells how a young girl, Sawa seeks revenge son the human-trafikkers that killed her policeman father - imagine a lineage that also includes the likes of Leon and Hanna. As previously announced, the central role of Sawa will be played by India Eisley (Secret Life of the American Teenager, Underworld: Awakening) with Callan McAuliffe ( I am Number Four, The Great Gatsby) in the role of Oburi. Samuel L Jackson stars as Karl Aker, the partner of her late father who Sawa enlists to help her efforts.
The film has been directed by Ralph Ziman and will be released in 2014.
