Lundgren to the 'Rescue'...

Written by (Editor) on 10th October 2012

Dolph Lundgren, fresh from his turn in The Expendables 2, is heading to television to make his first drama series debut...

The Expendables franchise has resurrected and rescued a number of careers and thrust its stars back in to the mainstream. For Dolph Lundgren that means making his debut as a television star in a brand new action drama series. Rescue 3 is his first scripted television show and he will appear as Captain John Matthews, a career firefighter and lifeguard (quite a multi-tasker!) who leads an elite LA-based team from those agencies who now specialise in the most difficult rescue scenarios - encompassing land, sea and air locations as required.

In a massive show of confidence, US distributor Tribune Broadcasting has ordered two-years worth of episodes (essentially a 104 week guarantee) from Emmett/Furla Films & Tower 18 Productions, which would see those episodes begin airing in the autumn/fall of 2013.  During the Nineties, there were quite a few prominent titles such as Hercules, Xena and Andromeda that did well in syndication , but over the last few years, first-run syndicated dramas (rather than original titles originally aimed at the big networks or cable outlets like HBO, Showtime) have been somewhat rare.

There's no news on any other casting at the moment, but expect the series to begin filming in the new year...
