It’s generally agreed that Netflix’s partnership with Marvel has brought some heavenly action to Hell’s Kitchen and as this year’s SDCC launches, they’re revealing specifics for the coming year…
The likes of Daredevil and Jessica Jones have been a big hit with fans and critics and Netflix is, as promised, keeping up the momentum with details of what we can expect over the next year or so. Luke Cage (Mike Colter) has already made his presence known in the critically-acclaimed first season of Jessica Jones but his solo-series will go live in its entirety on 30th September. It will detail his somewhat reluctant rise as an alternative ‘hero’ for the Hell’s Kitchen and Brooklyn areas of New York, letting his bullet-proof skin act as a weapon against those who would take advantage of the city.
But there will also be the new series Iron Fist, detailing how orphaned Danny Rand survives an air-crash and is raised in the ways of secret eastern mythology and powers, ready for him to use those powers, skill-set and techniques to bring his own type of justice back to the streets of America. There’s the return of Daredevil in a now officially-confirmed third season , a second run for Jessica Jones and… coming next year the heroes banding together to become the informal group ‘The Defenders‘. That’s not even counting the confirmed Punisher series at some point.
Much of the above was already known to some degree, but Netflix – in time for the San Diego Comic Con – has now released teaser footage and promotions for all the coming Marvel projects and they certainly whet the appetite…
