Stallone passes the 'torch' to Jordan in 'Creed'.

1st July 2015

Rocky may be out of the ring, but the story isn't over. This November the franchise gets a sequel and a new champion...'Creed' (with a little help from Stallone...)

Rocky was the passion-project of Sylvester Stallone and over the years it went from being one of his early calling-cards to award-winning franchise to iconic fighting franchise to a nostalgic legacy for the actor. Between 1976 and 1990 there were five 'Rocky' films with roman numerals in their title, all featuring the character of Rocky Balboa and then in 2006, Stallone brought him back for one last outing in the fuller-titled Rocky Balboa.

One might have thought that was the end of it, but now there's a passing of the torch (arguably a human torch) as the franchise itself gets a sequel starring Michael B. Jordan as Adonis Johnson, the son of Apollo Creed', and a young man aiming to follow in his late father's career into the ring... and needs a mentor to help him through his troubles in and out of that ring...

Jordan will soon be seen in the Fantastic Four movie, as Johnny Storm but we'd lay our bet that the 2015 film he'll be most remembered for will be Creed.

Warner Bros. have just released the film's first trailer for the Ryan Coogler-directed film which is scheduled for a November release...
