The Transporter franchise will be heading abck to the big screen, but looks to be doing so without the particpation of Jason Statham. Luc Besson's production company EuropaCorp is planning a reboot, with the idea of showing the origin of the franchise's hero/anti-hero Frank Martin who will transport anything, anywhere for the right fee - though working to his own moral code of the jobs he accepts.
According to industry site The Hollywood Reporter, the new film may well act as a springboard to two further sequels. Interestingly EurpoaCorp has an international deal to release fifteen of its movie-slate in China and it is expected that both fifth and sixth film in the Transporter series could also benefit from Chinese co-production (and quite likely, opening up the geographical possibilities for Frank's buisiness opportunities).
In related news, the Transporter television series - starring Chris Vance in the title role - which ran on Cinemax in 2012 may not have been renewed by that channel, but will now continue on TNT, who have picked it up for a second season expected to be broadcast late in 2014.
