Adkins and Florentine wrap 'Close Range'...

3rd February 2015

Scott Adkins and Isaac Florentine have always proven an effective partnership - and that looks to continues as they wrap on their latest project, 'Close Range'...

Shooting has been completed on the latest collaboration between British action hero Scot Adkins (Undisputed 2, Ninja Shadow of a Tear) and director Isaac Florentine (US Seals 2, the Undisputed series, the Ninja series).

The seventh collaboration between Isaac and Scott (the ninth if you include Legend of Hercules and Kill the Gringo which Florentine may not have directed but was involved with behind the scenes), was written by Chad Law - whose previous credits include Jean-Claude Van Damme's Six Bullets/The Butcher - and Shane Dax Taylor, while 8711's Jeremy Marinas who had the memorable MMA fight in Man of Tai Chi was the films fight choreographer and plays a role in the movie.

Close Range tells of a man desperately trying to save his family from a drug cartel and corrupt authorities. After rescuing his kidnapped niece from the powerful cartel, Colton MacReady (Adkins) begins a relentless fight to save his family who are now being targeted. The cartel has descended upon his secluded ranch with a thirst for revenge – in tow is a corrupt local sheriff and his crew of deputies, ensuring that help won’t be coming any time soon. What ensues is a non-stop assault on the ranch, a blow-by-blow survival marathon for Colton to protect his loved ones and save his life.

Scott Adkins in Close RangeWhen Adkins spoke about the film prior to the start of shooting he said: "It’s a cool script, its going to be with Isaac Florentine directing. I think this will be our eighth or ninth film together. We have a great working relationship and we both know what needs to be done. I think Isaac likes me because I put in 110% into the film and be there when he needs me. My character is more of an outlaw! A bad-ass character more like what Boyka is. One of those ‘take no shit’ types. He will be very fun to play… I like to mess about playing all sorts of characters but I do enjoy playing that sort of character. I do feel it comes naturally to me for some reason – not that I’m like that in real life – but I have a handle on how those parts are meant to be played.

Meanwhile as Close Range moves into post-production, we're hoping that the much discussed Undisputed IV also moves into production this year, which would see Adkins return again as 'the most complete fighter in the world' Yuri Boyka, the former Soviet Syndicate Mean Machine with Florentine at the helm.
