We're a little weary of 'teaser trailers' at Impact. Frankly, we're getting to the point where there's annoucements about annoucements about annoucements about films. However, when something is simply meant to whet the appetite and give an indication of tone, then it can also be a fine art to get it just right.
Say what you will about the simplicity of the Expendables franchise and their basic action remit, but they know what the fans want and this teaser trailer - now complete with the 'Colonel Bogey'' Bridge on the River Kwai marching theme (originally composed by Malcolm Arnold) - seems to balance everything pretty well.
At this point we have no idea whether the third film, due out next year, will work well or not... but the star-name line-up and the tone of marketing seem to be doing their job at the moment.
