The hugely anticipated third generation of Spider-Man movies is nearly upon us, as Tom Holland follows in the footsteps of his predecessors Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield in his first standalone movie as the Marvel superhero. Spider-Man: Homecoming is set for release on July 7th, and an image released by actress Laura Harrier on social media has confirmed the cast have joined forces once again for reshoots!
20-year-old Tom Holland is relatively new to the movie scene, and the actor first came into the public eye during his debut as Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War. Fans and critics alike were very positive when the first trailer was released in December; therefore there is plenty of excitement now ahead of the movie’s release later this year.
The premise of the new take on the superhero franchise follows a 15-year-old Peter Parker, who following the events of Captain America: Civil War is trying to balance life as a high school student in New York City with fighting crime as his superhero alter ego. With assistance from his mentor Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr), Spider-Man turns his attention to fighting the latest villain in the shape of Vulture (Michael Keaton).
It seems as though Spiderman: Homecoming is set to explore more of an innocent side to Peter Parker in comparison to the previous role portrayed by Andrew Garfield, and it could be the catalyst for a successful career in the film industry for young Tom Holland.
The Marvel franchise has been an outstanding success story when it comes to the various different movies released, which is highlighted by the frequency of Spider-Man movies since Tobey Maguire stepped into the role in 2002.
It has been a global phenomenon and a huge hit for all ages, and on a commercial scale in regards to merchandise and gaming it has also proved its worth. More recently the franchise has even made its way into the gambling industry, an example of this being Mansion Casino’s Spider-Man: Attack of the Green Goblin game, where people can play along as the popular superhero online fighting against his arch nemesis.
All movie fans will be eagerly anticipating the arrival of the Spiderman: Homecoming release on July 7th, but whether it will live up to expectations we will have to wait and see!
