‘Allied’ war trailer makes Pitt-stop...

The tabloids are already awash with news of the / divorce. But when really would be a better time for the of Pitt’s latest thriller ‘Allied’ to drop?


Yes, Paramount Pictures decided to release the trailer for the thriller (due in November)  and whether its coincidence or not, the gossip-pages have ensured bigger exposure for the film.  The spy thriller is set in 1942 in North Africa and revolves around Max Vatan (Brad Pitt), an intelligence officer who is on a dangerous mission infiltrating the enemy in Casablanca. He meets Marianne Beausejour (Marion Cotillard), a French resistance fighter. Vatan and Beausejour get together to help infiltrate and get information on Nazi plans. The film details their efforts and their relationship – the trust and distrust that develops as their romance continues. amid the pressure by the ongoing warfare.

The film is written by Steven Knight, who is the man behind the popular TV series ‘Peaky Blinders’. However, the steamy trailer involving Pitt and Cotillard, got some of the sleazier sites and publications questioning if there was anything happening off-camera…a suggestion immediately shut down by the pairs representatives.

Whatever the studio strategy or the tabloid tactics, it’s true that the week’s events have led to more exposure than the film would have got earlier in September. Ultimately the movie will stand or fall on its own merits and we’ll see that result  25th November 2016. Here’s the trailer…
