No stranger to on-screen comedy, Jackie Chan is now lending his voice to the 2017 sequel to hit animated outing ‘The Nut Job’… as an inner-city mouse with all the right moves…
There’s yet more Jackie Chan news, making his 2016 production slate even busier year than already noted. In addition to the likes of Skiptrace, Railroad Tigers and Bleeding Steel, Jackie will be getting animated for his next outings. Already announced is the role as Sensei Wu in The Lego Ninjago Movie (which is currently filming for a 2017 release) and now comes something else that’s… well, a little cheesy?
It’s been announced that Chan will be joining the voice cast of animated sequel The Nut Job 2, also due in 2017. He wil be joining the already cast Will Arnett, Katherine Heigl and Maya Rudolph. Though some details are limited at this point, it is known Chan will be playing Mr Feng the ‘ highly territorial leader’ of a gang of inner-city mice that Surly Squirrel (voiced by Arnett) and our heroes encounter in their efforts to stop the evil mayor of Oakton from bulldozing the rural Liberty Park to make an amusement park.
“We’re happy to announce the addition of Jackie Chan to the cast of The Nut Job 2,” director Cal Brunker said. “Jackie brings a unique voice to our movie, and it’s a real joy to be working with such a talented, award-winning actor and cultural icon.”
The original film was released in 2014 and eventually made over $120 million, setting the record for an independent animated movie. The sequel is currently due to be released in May 2017.
